Default crosman 2240 question

I bought a Crosman 2240 at a flea market for 20 bucks. I am going to put new o rings and seals on it. How do you take apart the valve assembly without damaging the brass?

A British company makes collets that slide over, allowing you to put a channel lock over w/o damaging the brass.

Might get away with some tape wrapped around.
